As part of this mission, they are seeking an experienced Product Owner to drive the development and delivery of technology solutions within the Group Underwriting Function.
About the Role
As a Product Owner, you will work closely with actuaries, capital modelling teams, and risk managers to shape and execute the product roadmap for underwriting and risk technology solutions. You’ll manage the backlog, engage with senior stakeholders, and collaborate with technical teams to deliver robust, scalable applications that enhance underwriting decision-making.
We are specifically looking for a Product Owner with an insurance or reinsurance background, who understands risk modelling and has experience of working with actuaries. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset and strong stakeholder management and business-partnering skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Roadmap & Delivery – Define and maintain a strategic product roadmap aligned with business goals.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Collaborate with underwriting leadership, actuaries, and risk teams to gather requirements and prioritise initiatives.
- Technical Leadership – Work with architects and technical teams to shape system roadmaps and ensure applications are resilient, scalable, and secure.
- Business Impact – Champion technology solutions that drive efficiency, improve risk modelling capabilities, and support capital optimisation.
- Programme & Vendor Management – Lead cross-functional teams, managing both internal resources and third-party vendors to ensure high-quality solution delivery.
What We’re Looking For
Must Haves:
- Proven experience as a Product Owner (or a similar role) within insurance or reinsurance, ideally within risk, actuarial, or underwriting functions.
- Strong understanding of risk modelling, exposure management, and capital optimisation.
- Experience of working with actuaries, capital modelling teams, or risk managers.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and navigate complex decision-making processes.
- Technical acumen, with experience delivering software solutions in an Agile environment (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
Desirable:
- Experience with actuarial or catastrophe modelling software.
- Background in managing multi-faceted application estates across different technologies and platforms.
