Location: Hampshire or London
Salary: Competitive + car allowance, and bonus

We’re working with a large, well-established UK organisation that is investing heavily in its data capabilities and is currently building out its Data Governance Framework.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Data Governance professional to join at an early stage of that journey, helping to shape how data is managed, governed and protected across the business.

You’ll report into the Head of Data Governance & Management, work closely with senior Data & Analytics leadership, and manage one direct report.

What will you be doing?

  • Helping to develop and embed the organisation’s Data Governance approach as it continues to mature
  • Bringing greater clarity around data ownership, definitions, KPIs, lineage and data quality
  • Using Microsoft Purview to improve visibility and understanding of the organisation’s data
  • Working with business and technical teams to identify data quality issues and drive improvements
  • Supporting data privacy, protection and risk requirements
  • Coordinating governance meetings and working with stakeholders to make sure actions are followed through
  • Supporting the Data team with risk, compliance and audit activity
  • Helping to develop data literacy and federated governance initiatives as the function evolves
  • Managing and supporting one direct report, whilst deputising for the Head of Data Governance when required

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in Data Governance, Data Management or a closely related area
  • Strong understanding of data quality, ownership, lineage, definitions and information governance
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview or a similar data catalogue/governance platform
  • Experience working with modern data environments; exposure to Databricks would be a bonus
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to work with senior audiences
  • The ability to translate complex data topics into clear, practical actions
  • A proactive, pragmatic approach and the confidence to take ownership
